We were using Mercedes C123 discs (279mm diameter) and Sierra Cosworth rear calipers, the brackets for these had been welded on when I had the Ford 8.8 axle narrowed, so they all just bolted on, the harder part turned out to be connecting the hand brake cables.
The Mk1 Capri uses a handbrake that uses a long cable and pulley system, so I needed to change to a more modern set up.
1. Escort MK1 MK2 Handbrake style hand brake lever RD6901
The Escort hand brake lever uses the same mounting points as the Capri so that just bolted on.
2. Sierra Cosworth Style Handbrake Cable for Escorts RD6905
The hand brake cable fitted the calipers but the single cable from the quadrant to the lever was to short, not a big problem and we had Cable Tec make us 300mm long one.
3. Custom floor bracket
The Mk1 Capri has no hand brake floor mounting points, I did look at using “Ford Escort Mk1 Mk2 Hand Brake Cable Mount Tunnel Bracket” but they weren’t really suitable with the Mustang propshaft I was using, so we designed a custom bracket. This uses the full width of the tunnel keeping the cables out of the way.
