We were using a Borg Warner/Tremec T5 world class gearbox from a Ford Mustang SN95 which I found out later has a slightly longer bellhousing (5/8 of an inch) than the earlier Fox Body Mustang, although this doesn’t matter too much, it is easy to get parts for the earlier gearbox, but I think it does put the gear lever in a better position.
We mounted the gearbox using a Ford Consul Granada MK1 MK2 gearbox 4 speed cross member, which goes down and back further than the stock cross member.
I believe it is used the other way around on a Granada 2.0L with a Type E gearbox.
This bolts with a custom alloy spacer/carrier similar to Sierra Cosworth between the gearbox and standard gearbox mount. This gives the look of factory fitment using the standard large dome washer and bolt. Note part is upside down in drawing
One of the bell housing fins need a small amount removed for bulkhead clearance, this might have been needed with a different bellhousing.
