I used 79-93 Ford Mustang Fox Body 5.0L V8 Stainless Steel Shorty Manifolds, these are based on the Ford Racing design with no1 cylinder going closer to the block behind the others, with a bit of modifying this can be made to give you the clearance needed.
Don’t try using stock Fox Body manifolds (no1 goes down the outside) or manifolds with really large ports as you won’t be able to cut them closer and still get the bolts in.
If you cut them at the flange and then cut them at an angle before welding them back together, this brings the exhaust tighter to the engine and away from the steering shaft.
So in the finished picture we have twisted the exhaust closer to the engine.
