There are 3 different brake servo’s fitted to UK cars, the 2.8i has an ATE servo and master cylinder, you could use this on any Capri but you would have to change both items as they are it is not compatible with any Girling parts.
All the other models use a Girling Supervac (boost ratio 2.2 : 1) also there are two different size brake servo’s, the smaller engines have the 6.5 inch (vacuum pipe at the top) and larger engines having the 7.5inch (vacuum pipe at the side).
There are also early and late brackets, the later bracket moves the servo 10mm further away from the bulkhead, to allow a rubber grommet to seal on the shaft, most will have deteriorate by now and do not seal the passenger compartment from the engine bay. The earlier bracket is much better design and does not use a rubber grommet. I wanted to use a late type servo with an early bracket, I did this by using a 10mm spacer between the too.
A common upgrade if larger brakes have been fitted is to use a Land Rover Defender master cylinder NRC8690 this has a larger bore 25,4mm.
You will need to make a small change to the pipes as this has only two outlets the front brake pipe use a M12 x 1.0mm union and will also need a ‘T’piece to connect to both front brakes.
The rear brake union is M10 x 1.0mm and you will also need a 2.8i brake fluid reservoir.
